Building and Maintenance Technician - Courthouse & LEC
- JOB SUMMARY:
- The Building and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Law Enforcement Center and Courthouse facilities. This includes performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building systems and maintenance procedures, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- JOB QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Education: High school diploma or GED. Technical training or certification in building maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance, preferably in a public safety or government setting.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.Other: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and painting.
- Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the buildings to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all building systems.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and effectively.
- Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement personnel, courthouse staff, and external contractors to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Budgeting: Assist in preparing and managing the maintenance budget, including cost estimates for repairs and upgrades.
- WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The position requires working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to address emergency maintenance issues
